Manny Pacquiao wants a shot at Conor McGregor

After Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor each made a staggering amount of money from their pay-per-view megafight, legendary boxers past their prime are lining up at the chance to share the ring with the UFC lightweight champion.

Oscar De La Hoya, who repeatedly trashed Mayweather-McGregor and argued that it was hurting the sport of boxing, changed his tune and challenged McGregor to one last fight earlier this month. On Thanksgiving Day, another challenger emerged.

A fight with Pacquiao makes even less sense than a fight against De La Hoya in 2018. Whereas De La Hoya's comeback at the age of 44 would make for an interesting story and McGregor might actually have a chance to win, Pacquiao is still skilled enough to destroy an inexperienced boxer, but isn't exactly someone fans will pay to watch anymore.

There was a time Pacquiao may have been the best boxer in the world, but his pay-per-view buys have sagged considerably since the Mayweather megafight. Pacquiao, coming off a loss last summer, just isn't worth McGregor's time.

There is, however, an alternative. Since every boxer wants a slice of a Conor McGregor pay-per-view payday, FTW proposes that De La Hoya and Pacquiao find a few other challengers and stage a win-or-go-home extravaganza. Each boxer would get one round against McGregor, and if they lose that round, they hang up the gloves for good.
