Meyer wants 'all-out investigation' into who hurt Barrett
The first question Urban Meyer was asked following Ohio State's 30-21 win over Michigan on Saturday was about quarterback J.T. Barrett - who left the game in the third quarter with a knee injury - and backup Dwayne Haskins.
According to the Buckeyes head coach, Barrett suffered a non-football injury, apparently making contact at some point before the game with "a guy with a camera" and prompting Meyer to claim there are "too many damn people on the sideline."
Meyer is "pissed," and his frustration for the whole situation came through in a dark, Liam-Neeson-in- Taken kind of way when he talked about how angry he is that any of this happened. He said he found out about Barrett's injury before the opening kickoff.
He said:
"I'm just so upset with myself. It was a non-football injury - too many damn people on the sideline. And a guy with a camera hit him in the knee. I'mma find out who, and think about that. So I'm so angry right now I've gotta move on - that I let that happen. … I'll find out who that was."
That press conference quickly took a dark and weird turn, as he also promised an "all-out investigation" into who hurt Barrett. People reacted to the strangeness of the injury and Meyer's response and added in some potential conspiracy theories.
