Shohei Ohtani crushes Phillies' fans dreams
With the baseball world awaiting where Shohei Ohtani will end up in MLB, MLB.com posted an interview with the Japanese player that was done in February. And there's one exchange - though we'll never know how intentional - that leaves one possible landing spot for Ohtani looking like it's not happening.
Sorry, Phillies fans.
MLB.com: What do you like about daily life in the United States?
Ohtani: I've only been to Hawaii and Arizona, but I like the huge steaks.
MLB.com: What cities are you curious about and would like to see?
Ohtani: The Rocky Balboa statue, I want a picture of that.
MLB.com: Philadelphia has a baseball team, you know.
Ohtani: No, I just want to visit there.
The bright side, though, if you're a Phillies fan: That interview was done a long time ago! Maybe he's since then heard some of the wonderful things about Philadelphia. Or looked at For The Win's Ted Berg's interactive flowchart and realized that it was in fact the team for him.
