Politician apologizes for mean tweet to football recruit
An Oregon state representative apologized on Thursday after he blasted a teenager on Twitter for decommitting from Oregon following a coaching change there.
Bill Post tweeted out a direct message he sent to Braden Lenzy, apologizing for this tweet:
Because tweeting at high schoolers over their college choice is a ridiculous choice to make, people all over Twitter quickly criticized Post. In his apology to Lenzy, he wrote that he was "tired, grumpy and upset, not at you, but at college football in general."
Which is still not really an excuse to tweet at a teenager over his college choices, but he continued with his own story about a stressful situation he's going through with his own son, who played high school football.
"I was a jerk and I know it," he continued. "I hope you'll accept my humble apology."
Lenzy, according to the message posted, did accept his apology and said that the whole thing was "blown up."
Which may be true, but is still a good reminder to - say it with me everyone - not tweet at high schoolers over their college decisions.
