Commentators shocked after boxer's ear injury
Fair warning: This is gross. Really, truly gross.
On Saturday night, Stephen Smith and Francisco Vargas' HBO Boxing After Dark bout came to a sudden end and gruesome end.
The ref halted the fight in the ninth round, of the fight when Smith began bleeding heavily from his left ear, resulting from a previous clash if heads between the two men. When cameras zoomed closer into the injury, they found Smith's ear had been almost completely split in half. Even commentator Andre Ward was totally shocked:
"I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in a boxing match…in an ear that was not bitten."
