Fans react to rumored XFL revival

The stars may be aligning for a potential XFL reboot. After Twitter user @TheBradShepard wrote that Vince McMahon is "looking to bring back the XFL and may announce it on January 25th," the WWE provided the following statement to wrestling writer David Bixenspan. McMahon is funding a new company, Alpha Entertainment, to "explore investment opportunities."

WWE has also filed for several XFL-related trademarks.

Is an XFL revival in the works? The no-holds-barred league only existed for one season in 2001, and while the league provided a number of popular innovations (such as SkyCam, or nicknames on jerseys), it simply didn't draw enough viewers. Given the current state of the NFL, however, it's plausible that fans may flock to an alternative pro game.
