Steve Kerr breaks down Kobe vs. Jordan 1-on-1 game

Kobe Bryant will have both his No. 8 and No. 24 jersey numbers retired on Monday night when the Lakers face the Warriors at Staples Center.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was both a teammate of Michael Jordan and competed against Bryant during his NBA career. Because fans love to compare NBA greats across eras, Kerr was asked what a Kobe vs. Jordan game of one-on-one would look like. Kerr didn't choose a winner, but he thought the game would be closer than many would expect.

Kerr said:

"It would be fun to watch. Like I said, very similar games. Kobe shot a lot more 3s. But in Michael's era, the 3s weren't as big a part of things. I'm sure he would have worked a lot harder on his 3s if he played in the modern era. But so similar in terms of the footwork, reverse pivot, fadeaways. And I'm sure Kobe got a lot of that by watching Michael. Yeah, that would have been fun to watch."

Bryant and Jordan only played against each other eight times during the regular season with Kobe holding a 5-3 record. The two players put up near-identical numbers in those games. So, that doesn't help decide who would have won.

Sure, Kerr could have settled the argument there, but there's no fun in that.
