Bill Walton tried to tell Kyrie Irving the Earth is flat
Have you heard? Kyrie Irving thinks the Earth is flat because there's no real picture of the planet.
Despite ample scientific evidence to the contrary, the Boston Celtics point guard is entitled to his opinion. But that didn't stop Bill Walton from trying to explain to Irving that the Earth is round while on air during Arizona's 73-58 win over UConn on Thursday. He even had a tiny globe as a helpful prop.
Unfortunately for Walton, he ended up on a tangent about the winter solstice - which was also Thursday - although that happens to the broadcaster from time to time.
He said while spinning his mini globe:
"Kyrie, the Earth is round. The winter solstice - the shortest day and the longest night in the hemisphere that it's happening for, because right now, they're having the summer solstice in the southern hemisphere."
To be fair, the solstice could be used as a side argument in favor of the Earth being flat, but it's not quite the best one to lead with.
Still, gotta love peak Bill Walton.
