Jason Day's wife posts heartfelt New Year's note

It's been a truly tough year for golfer Jason Day, his wife Ellie and his family.

His mother underwent surgery as part of her cancer treatment and Ellie revealed she suffered a miscarriage.

On New Year's Day, she shared these throwback photos of her and Jason at Disney World and wrote a heartfelt note:

Kissing 2017 goodbye! It's been a weird, challenging year for our family in so many ways. But there have also been amazing, sweet, joyful moments in the chaos. Phewww. My heart and body feel tired. I know everything happened for a reason but I am hoping for a much healthier, peaceful, fruitful 2018. I am thankful for 2017 but even more thankful for the idea of a fresh start in 2018. Also, throwing this photo back because in true Day form, everyone is sick for yet another holiday. #happyfreakingnewyear #disneyworld #movingforward #graceupongrace #thankfulandtired #teamdayletsgo
