Dale Jr. asked fans to share most prized collectables
Unsurprisingly, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has not forgotten about his many, many fans, even in retirement.
With a little more free time following his last NASCAR Cup Series race in November, the driver has been engaging with JR Nation on social media on a variety of topics. Most recently, he asked his followers what their most prized collectable or autographed item is, creating a spectacular Twitter thread for diehard racing and general sports fans.
Kicking off the discussion, Junior said his favorite thing - and he has a lot to choose from - is the Monte Carlo his dad drove in his 1979 rookie year and in 1980 during his first Cup Series championship season. Talladega Superspeedway gave it to Earnhardt as a retirement present, and it's on "permanent loan" to him from the Motorsports Hall at the track.
What Earnhardt said he didn't expect was so many great replies from fans with their special racing collectables on a Twitter thread with more than 1,000 comments. Here are some of the best, many of which are, of course, Earnhardt-related.
