Coaches explain why TV timeouts are the worst

Like any nationally televised major sporting event, the College Football Playoff national title game has a lot of commercials.

It's why a these CFP games have rarely finished before the four-hour mark. And sure, it's easy for fans to complain about commercials because no viewer enjoys watching commercials (except for the Super Bowl, I guess). It turns out that college football coaches don't love the extended breaks either, especially when the influx of TV timeouts comes early in the game.

When the Georgia-Alabama game went to another TV timeout in the first half, the coaches at ESPN's Film Room had their own intriguing take on commercials being the worst.

Former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin joked that they love to do the TV timeouts early, but later in the game - when the team could actually use a stoppage - there's rarely one.

I'm all for paying the bills, ESPN, but the coaches have spoken. Less commercials.
