McCullers tweets boastful GIF during Cole rumors
The defending World Series champion Houston Astros might be getting even better this offseason with a trade that's "close" ( per Paste BN Sports) for Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole.
Fellow Houston hurler Lance McCullers Jr. seemed excited by the reports that Cole might join an already solid rotation that also boasts Justin Verlander and Dallas Keuchel. Around the time of the Cole reports breaking, he tweeted this GIF of Vince Carter's famous "it's over" gesture from his iconic 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest win (and he deleted it soon after):
Now, you could take that two ways:
1. McCullers is saying the deal "is over" and official and he's pumped to have Cole aboard.
2. He's telling the rest of the league that it's already "over," that the Astros are destined to repeat as champs with Cole in the rotation.
Seems like Twitter took the latter interpretation and ran with it:
McCullers responded to a fan who commented that "the Astros are cocky as [expletive]" (which also has been deleted):
