Twitter campaign helps soccer player get a dog

Nottingham Forest's Eric Lichaj scored two goals to secure his team's win against Arsenal on Sunday - a tally enough to make him a hero in fans' eyes.

But it wasn't enough for one thing: A puppy. At least at first. Lichaj, his wife Kathryn said in a radio interview, was looking for a hat trick for not only a good game but … to get a puppy.

Via the BBC:

"He will go to bed and get pictures of dogs up and work out which is best for a family. It was starting to do my head in, so I said if you get a hat-trick we'll make a deal and you can have a dog.

"I thought, I'm safe here, we're not going to have a dog.

"If he doesn't get the dog, maybe it'll egg him on to get a hat-trick next time."

She was not safe from the bet. Eric Lichaj responded to the interview with this tweet:

Which launched an incredible campaign. Poor Kathryn, who pointed out on the radio that she would be the one taking care of this dog because her husband is training most mornings.

Cue, the GIFs

Obviously, this worked.
