Jim Nantz: Tony Romo to play in a PGA Tour event

Tony Romo may not be coming back to the NFL as a player anytime soon, but he might be trying his skills in another sport: Golf.

According to Golf.com, CBS' Jim Nantz said the former Cowboys QB will appear at a Tour event as a competitor.

From Golf.com:

"He's going to play in a Tour event," Nantz told GOLF.com's Jessica Marksbury at the PGA Merchandise Show. "He's going to get an exemption in the next - let's just say two months. So he's going to put it out there on the line."

As FTW's Charles Curtis wrote last year, Romo is a more-than-decent golfer. Romo tried to qualify for the US open, but missed the cut by shooting 3-over-par 75 at a local qualifier. He did, as the Chicago Tribune's Teddy Greenstein pointed out, fare worse in a t ournament in August.

According to Nantz, the "golf fanatic" also carries a putter into the broadcast booth during NFL games and makes strokes during commercials.
