Tony Romo will play on the PGA Tour in March

CBS announcer Jim Nantz teased in January that his NFL commentary partner Tony Romo would be appearing on the PGA Tour this season, and Romo's entry was made official Wednesday.

Romo has received a sponsor's exemption to play in the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship in the Dominican Republic. Romo will compete as an amateur in the event, which starts March 22nd.

Had Romo spent his life training to be a pro golfer instead of playing football, there's a decent chance he'd be a fixture on the PGA Tour with a long golf career still ahead of him.

He's tried to qualify for the U.S. Open on three separate occasions, and even made it to sectionals in 2010 before having to pull out to join the Cowboys. Romo is playing this weekend in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am with Will Zalatoris.
