Rece Davis makes savage joke about college hoops scandal

Several top college basketball players, along with their families, from some of the best programs in the nation received impermissible benefits, according to a Yahoo Sports report published Friday, based on documents from a federal investigation into corruption in the sport.

During ESPN's College GameDay broadcast Saturday from Texas Tech, Rece Davis took a savage jab at the scandal following the weekly halfcourt shot attempt from a fan. After she took her shot, Davis explained what she gets.

Davis said:

"That was tremendous. You were all over the rim. You know what a fabulous parting gift is? 1,800 bucks. You walk out 1,800 bucks richer than you were, and that won't even get you investigated by anybody. So congratulations."

As his fellow ESPN broadcasters pointed out, that joke might have been a little too soon.
