UVA fan vowed to donate $5K if Cavaliers beat Louisville
It looked like Virginia basketball fan who is known only as WahooBasketball on Twitter wouldn't have to pay up after declaring he'd donate $5,000 to the Virginia Athletics Foundation if the Cavaliers managed to survive an upset threat from Louisville.
In the middle of the second half, the fan - whose real name is Michael Pittman, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch - tweeted:
With one second left on the clock and top-ranked UVA trailing, 66-62, he was practically in the clear because it seemed impossible. But amazingly, the Cavaliers pulled off an incredible comeback - here's a breakdown of how - eventually beating Louisville, 76-66.
Not long after the game ended, Pittman tweeted a copy of the receipt from his five-grand donation to the school.
Via the Richmond Times-Dispatch:
"Started the twitter account and podcast and stuff to disconnect from work," Pittman, who owns his own wireless hardware company, said Friday in a direct message to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. "Very passionate about my Hoos."
Yeah, you'd have to be to make that kind of bet and follow through.
