Lawrence PD had epic tweet for Kansas celebration
There was no riot in Lawrence, Kan.
It has been six years since the Kansas Jayhawks have reached the Final Four, and there's been plenty of March heartbreak during that absence.
So, when Kansas defeated Duke, 85-81, in Sunday's Elite Eight matchup, thousands of fans poured into downtown Lawrence to celebrate the win. It was quite the scene.
But as the Lawrence Police Department noted, this crowd was solely in celebration mode. The official police department's Twitter account celebrated both the Final Four appearance and the crowd's behavior in one excellent tweet.
It got even better: The enforcement of open-container laws were loosened as long as the beverage was in a plastic cup.
Kansas will face Villanova in Saturday's Final Four.
