Larry Drew credits therapy dog for JR Smith's game
Acting Cleveland head coach Larry Drew walked into the locker room to see J.R. Smith sprawled on the floor with one very good dog.
Hours later, he watched as the guard came off the bench and scored 19 points on 8-for-9 shooting in Cleveland's 118-105 win over Charlotte.
"I walk in the room and there J.R. is sitting on the floor … he's sitting on the floor petting the (dog)," Drew said. "I think it was the canine that got him going. I can tell he's very fond of that dog and we're going to have to get that dog back to more shootarounds.
"We had breakfast and he was there petting the dog and we did our walkthrough," Drew continued. "After the walkthrough he went back over to the dog. I think it was the canine."
Unfortunately for Drew and the Cavs, the dog - REMINGTON - cannot be a permanent fixture in their locker room. According to the News and Observer, the UNC baseball team needs him too.
