Mike Leach has a story about tracking a raccoon
Like most great answers from Washington State's Mike Leach, this one started with a simple question. A reporter asked what the weirdest animal he had see on his walk to work.
Well, there's been a few.
"Tracked a raccoon one time in the snow," Leach said. "I was in the neighborhood and I was just curious where this raccoon lived. There was some fresh raccoon tracks - he had been digging at somebody's garbage. So I followed the tracks, and I don't even know if these people know it, but he lives right in the back of their house."
He's also seen: An owl, fox, coyote, quail, deer, pheasants and rabbits. When asked if he was a good tracker, he brushed off that there was any sort of skill involved.
"Well, if it's just blatantly obvious - the snow - it's like on a cartoon, there's blatant tracks. But it's residential, I was just curious to where this sucker lived. So I walked half a mile out my way to figure that out.
