Why Andre Ingram stuck with development league
The truth, Andre Ingram - the 10-year development league player who received his long-awaited call-up to the Lakers for the final two games of their regular season - just wanted a shot with the NBA.
So, he stayed in the D-League (and now G-League) despite more lucrative offers from overseas, he said on Area 21 on Tuesday. Eventually, once he had said no enough, the overseas offers dried up and he was stuck - not that he would have gone anyway.
"At one point I was mad at the D-League - man they didn't call me up yet," he admitted. "But then I needed it, that's the only way so I could play. A lot of that stuff kept me coming back. Then I got a lot of encouragement from people back home, people who believe in me."
Ingram scored 19 points in his debut with the Lakers.
