Draymond responds to claim he wouldn't start on other teams

Draymond Green is unquestionably one of the best players in the NBA, and he reminded everyone how decorated his resume is Tuesday after the Golden State Warriors knocked the Spurs out of the NBA playoffs with a Game 5 win.

But for all his talent, Green is not a top scorer. The power forward averages 11.4 points per game, but that works for his defending champion team because his defense is exceptional. Going into the second round, the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year leads Golden State in rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

But because he's not a prolific scorer, TNT analyst Chris Webber said during the Warriors' win that Green might not be a starter on some teams. Via MLive.com:

"If he was on other teams and expected to score, he might not be in the starting lineup on some teams," Webber said. "But on this team, he's one of their most valuable players because he keeps the system going, he's unselfish, he locks down on defense, and he'll get you an easy bucket."

So of course, during the post-game press conference, Webber's comments were mentioned, and the response was quintessential Draymond Green.

Green - a two-time NBA champion and three-time All-Star - said:

"I don't have a scorer's mentality, especially for the team that I play on. I think if I did have a scorer's mentality, it would throw all this off and it wouldn't work out. You know, I think there are times in the game where I probably need to score more, but it's hard to turn a scorer's mentality on and off. I've had that once before in my life. You don't just click that on or off. Nonetheless, I do know when I need to be more aggressive and that helps my team out.

"But I don't care. I've done some great things in this league. I've been to All-Star twice averaging like 11 points, ten points or something like that. Like, you know, I don't need to score.

"However, I don't think he can find many GMs are coaches that wouldn't say I wouldn't start on their team, and you know, I'm fine without scoring the ball. I think I've created a new lane for guys in this league to where you don't have to score 20 points to be an All-Star or be a starter in this league, and it is what it is. So that's fine and my jersey fit well. So I'm doing really pretty good. Much love to C-Web, though, from Michigan - State of Michigan, you know, we good."

Green, an alum of Michigan State, didn't seem to take the former Michigan Wolverines' star's comments personally, even if he did have a great response.
