Ball brothers' Lithuanian team to be relegated
Lithuanian club BC Vytautas had little to lose when it agreed to bring on LiAngelo, LaMelo Ball and the craziness surrounding LaVar Ball.
The club was flirting with relegation to the second-division NKL, and it hoped the Ball brothers would be a spark that kept the club afloat. While the Ball brother's helped the club financially, Vytautas couldn't avoid relegation.
With the 79-73 loss to Pieno Zvaigzdes on Wednesday, Vytautas clinched a last-place finish with one game remaining in the season. It has needed to play the remaining games without the Ball brothers after LaVar pulled his sons out of Lithuania before the season ended.
According to Lithuanian journalist Donatas Urbonas, Vytautas will be relegated if the club meets the financial and arena standards for the second division.
Even had the Ball brothers remained in Lithuania for the entire season, LaVar made it clear that his sons weren't going to stick around next season if the club was relegated. Via Lonzo Wire:
"Division 2, you're going to get some lower-end guys that just wanna go through the motions and get whatever money they can on the way out," LaVar tells the producers. "That's not really helping my boys develop. That's not going to help them."
Vytautas will play its final LKL game against first-place Zalgiris next Wednesday.
