Kyle Kuzma wrote 'All-Rookie Team' on Polaroid before season started
The Lakers' Kyle Kuzma was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team along with the Jazz's Donovan Mitchell, the 76ers' Ben Simmons, the Celtics' Jayson Tatum and the Bull's Lauri Markkanen. The players are picked based on votes from 100 media members.
While all the top rookies probably hoped they'd receive this honor, the Lakers shared that Kuzma actually had this written down on a Polaroid photo of himself as a goal before the season even started.
It's awesome to see that Kuzma believed he'd be able to stand out, even on the same team as No. 2 pick Lonzo Ball (Ball made it on the All-Rookie Second Team). Kuzma averaged 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
He shared the photo on Instagram with the caption, "Spoke it into existence."
When asked about the accomplishment, Kuzma told reporters:
"That's one of my goals that I had at the beginning of the year. We wrote it down on paper at media day. Everyone had a type of goal and that was my goal. To see it come true is pretty rewarding."
Mitchell, Simmons and Tatum have already been announced as the finalists for the Rookie of the Year award. The winner will be revealed during the awards show on June 25.
