Eagles' Chris Long on NFL's new anthem policy

The NFL announced a controversial new national anthem policy that will force players on the field to stand and "show respect" for the anthem, or have the option to remain in the locker room instead of protesting on the field. A number of NFL players ripped the new policy, which the NFL devised without consulting the NFLPA.

On Wednesday evening, Super Bowl champion Chris Long wrote that the NFL's new rule wasn't about patriotism, but about the fear that President Donald Trump would criticize the NFL if the organization would have allowed players to protest.

Trump praised the league following the announcement of the new anthem policy, and suggested that players who do protest "maybe… shouldn't be in the country."
