Ovechkin celebrates in MGM after #nocaps promotion
The Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup in Las Vegas on Thursday night, beating the Golden Knights in a thrilling 4-3 victory.
It is the team's first Stanley Cup, and throughout the playoffs, #ALLCAPS was used to celebrate their run and galvanize fans on social media. In response, Vegas started using #nocaps during the Stanley Cup Final, and ahead of Thursday's Game 5 matchup, MGM Resorts promoted #nocaps on Twitter.
Well, that didn't quite work out for the Vegas, which needed to win and force a Game 6 to keep its Stanley Cup hopes alive.
After the on-ice and locker room celebrations, Capitals players, led by captain and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin, strolled right through MGM in Vegas with the Stanley Cup.
He had a look about him that said, "I'm never letting you go."
