'The Simspons' predicted Cup would be in Vegas
This is admittedly a stretch in the " Simpsons predict EVERYTHING" narrative, but let's go for it.
In Season 10 episode "Viva Ned Flanders," Homer takes his squeaky-clean neighbor Ned to Las Vegas, and when they go on a bender, they awaken in a trashed hotel room (around the 1:55 mark) filled with all kinds of stuff. Did you spot what's all the way in the back?
That's right:
A lot of folks saw this as a prediction that the Golden Knights would win. But it still works: The Capitals won the Cup in Las Vegas and paraded it around town.
How did the Cup end up in the Simpson/Flanders hotel room in the first place? Here's the show's Mike Scully talking about it with NHL.com:
"If I recall correctly the scene was when they woke up the next morning," Scully told NHL.com. "We were just looking for funny things to have in the hotel room to show that Homer and Ned had a wild night in Vegas. I think there was a tiger in the room. They had stolen a golf cart. And they somehow ended up with the Stanley Cup." …
"The thing I love about the Stanley Cup is it's the only sports trophy that travels. You see it in locations all over the world. And I'm sure I have seen it in Vegas before," Scully said. "The Cup leads an awesome life. It goes on better vacations than I do."
