Ovechkin, Backstrom jump around with Stanley Cup in Vegas fountain
Yes, the NHL awards show in Las Vegas included footage of Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom holding the Stanley Cup above their heads while jumping up and down on a platform in the middle of the massive Fountains of Bellagio.
This fountain is much bigger than the one they got into in D.C., but they were much more, um, put together for TV. This time, Ovechkin wasn't doing pushups while shirtless. They were in award show attire.
Per NHL.com's Tom Gulitti, they filmed it the day before to get it right. Here's the behind-the-scenes footage:
