Harper practiced bunting before the final round
I think we can all agree that Bryce Harper's best strategy for the Home Run Derby would be trying to hit home runs.
To win, he needed to beat Kyle Schwarber's mark of 18 dingers in the final round (he did thanks to a furious late charge), so to get his mind right for the round at hand, Harper practiced … bunting?
During Schwarber's final round, the ESPN broadcast flashed to Harper in the batting cage as he was working on some bunts.
The quick camera transition made it look like Harper bunted a baseball out of Nationals Park. He did not, though. He bunted into a net.
In all likelihood, Harper was just messing around to stay loose. He hasn't attempted a sacrifice bunt this season, and he surely wasn't going to bunt in a Home Run Derby.
But hey, with hair like that and a headband, Harper can bunt if he wants. It clearly worked.
