Video shows why DeRozan didn't want to leave Toronto

This story has been corrected to reflect that it was DeMar DeRozan who reflected his frustration on his Instagram story.

It was a little more than two years ago when DeMar DeRozan announced he was staying in Toronto, with the team he helped build. He signed a 5-year contract, worth a reported $139 million. A few weeks later, he sat in front of reporters talking about the deal.

"I am Toronto," he declared.

In a video released on DeRozan's Twitter account later that year marking that moment, he spoke about loyalty and his journey to the Raptors when he was still a teenager and had never possessed a passport.

The video runs through the highlights of DeRozan's career in Toronto until that point. And then, he speaks about the interactions he's had with fans, who told him they grew up watching him.

"Why would I leave?" he asks. "I never wanted to start over. You build something, maybe you mess up, but you keep trying."

But according to Paste BN Sports, that's no longer an option for DeRozan. He reportedly was traded to San Antonio, in part for Kawhi Leonard.

On DeRozan's Instagram account, he appeared to express his displeasure with the deal, writing "Ain't no loyalty in this game."
