Poulter pinballs around hazards with lucky shot

The bouncy nature of Carnoustie's fairways is easily the biggest X-factor in the 2018 British Open … but sometimes it's just plain luck that leads to a good shot.

That's probably what Ian Poulter thought on Thursday when he hit a ball out of the rough that bounced before the burn, went over and rolled through a bunker and over the lip before resting just outside the green:

You couldn't do that 1,000 times if you tried.

Poulter ended Thursday 2-over.
