Herrera's foul ball destroyed a chair at Fenway
The Red Sox expanded the netting at Fenway Park well into the outfield on both sides this season, which was a much-needed update after a series of scary incidents at the ballpark.
But netting can't stop every baseball - especially some baseballs with the force to break chairs. It happened on Monday.
Before Odubel Herrera ran into a puzzling double play in the third inning, he literally destroyed a chair with a foul ball.
Herrera pulled a foul ball that slipped through that expanded netting, and it broke a chair.
Luckily, no fan was hurt in the unoccupied seat, but the broadcast did show some fans examining the damage done to that chair. The seatback was completely detached.
That foul ball was no joke.
