NASCAR briefly racing in the rain made for crazy, strange videos
On a typical NASCAR race weekend, rain means a red flag and a halt of the race until the weather clears up. However, at Watkins Glen International - the road course in upstate New York where the sport is this weekend - teams only have to make some quick adjustments for the rare chance to race in the rain.
Saturday during the second-tier XFINITY Series Zippo 200, the rain took over, and teams were forced to pit and replace their tires with wet ones before returning to the track. Windshield wipers can be installed too - another thing you never see on stock cars.
This almost never happens in NASCAR, and it made for a crazy scene with cars on a very wet track.
When the weather cleared up but the track was still partially wet during the second stage of Saturday's race, teams had the option to return to their regular tires or leave the rain ones on, adding another strategic element to the road course event.
From the drivers to Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his fellow broadcasters, no one really knew how to react, but they loved it. Driver Christopher Bell had a great joke about the odd situation.
