Rangers manager casually catches hard-hit foul ball with his bare hand
For many people, when a hard foul ball is coming their way, the natural reaction might be to duck - that is, if they even have enough time to react.
Not for Texas Rangers manager Jeff Banister though.
He clearly has nerves of steel and an impeccable reaction time because when a foul ball during Tuesday's Rangers-Arizona Diamondbacks matchup headed straight for Banister in the dugout, he very casually stuck out his bare hand and grabbed it. No flinching, no mistakes, no glove.
Per MLB.com, it happened in the bottom of the fourth at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas when Rangers' rookie first baseman Ronald Guzmán swung on an 0-2 pitch. The ball bounced and shot toward his team's dugout. But instead of drilling any unsuspecting players, it was halted by Banister's perfect catch.
Perhaps he was on his toes the rest of the same after nearly getting hit by another foul ball in the first inning. Either way, that's a job well done.
The Rangers won, 5-3, in the first of a two-game series against the Diamondbacks.
