A's pitcher airmails baseball into the stands

The Oakland A's have been playing some outstanding baseball as of late, but they're still subject to the occasional blooper.

During Sunday's game against the Astros, A's pitcher Shawn Kelley was not anticipating a timeout call from Evan Gattis. When the signal was granted by home plate umpire D.J. Reyburn, Kelley had already started his delivery.

Rather than stop his motion and risk injury, Kelley threw the baseball straight up and into the stands. Everyone was shocked.

Gattis' reaction was especially fantastic.

Gattis is a large dude, and he even had quite the flinch to Kelley's airmailed pitch. The throw literally cleared the screen behind home plate.

The Astros DH couldn't hold back the laughter for the next pitch, which might have explained the three-pitch strikeout.

Houston went on to win, 9-4.
