Irsay's tweet had fans expecting Vinatieri's exit
Colts owner Jim Irsay announced the retirement longtime radio voice Bob Lamey on Twitter over the weekend. He just had an peculiar way of going about the news.
Irsay took to Twitter and teased that the Colts were losing a legend, which didn't leave many options with the Colts - depending on your standard for "legend." He added that he would provide more details later. It was all an odd way of announcing this kind of thing.
The tweet had fans thinking that either someone died or that 45-year-old kicker Adam Vinatieri was retiring.
Others were just weirded out by the cryptic tweet.
The Colts owner waited an hour to provide those previously teased details, and it turned out that neither Vinatieri retired nor anybody died. Irsay announced Lamey's retirement without mentioning Lamey's name.
That all took an hour. In the meantime, Vinatieri is still an active NFL kicker and coming off a perfect performance in the Colts' preseason opener.
