The All-Breakout Team: NFL players who will become stars this season

New stars emerge every NFL season, and 2018 will be no different. For The Win picked up an entire team of up-and-coming talent that should break out and become household names this season. Let's meet them…

Offense

Mitch Trubisky, QB Bears, Age: 24

Whoever said "numbers never lie" was wrong. On paper, Trubisky had a terrible rookie season, but the film told a different story. Sure, the 2017 second-overall pick needs to work on his accuracy - he was far too inconsistent on even the simplest of throws last season - but he's calm in the pocket, gets through his reads quickly and does an excellent job of throwing receivers open. Those are the traits of a franchise quarterback. With a better supporting cast and an offensive-minded coaching staff now in place, Trubisky will show way the Bears traded up to draft him.

Kenyan Drake, RB Dolphins, Age: 24

There is a valid concern that Frank Gore's presence in Miami will cut into Drake's opportunities, but the presumptive starter is far too talented - as both a receiver and a runner - for Adam Gase to keep him off the field. And he'll prove that, even behind a suspect Dolphins line. Drake's quickness and acceleration allows him to do stuff like this…

Drake's pass blocking kept him off the field at times in 2017, but it appears he's worked on that part of his game over the summer.

Mike Williams, WR Chargers, Age: 23

It might be odd that we're listing a 2017 top-10 pick as a breakout candidate, but an injury-plagued season - and the fact he's like the 34th NFL receiver named Mike Williams - turned the Clemson product into an afterthought for many football fans. With Antonio Gates gone and Hunter Henry injured, the Chargers are in desperate need of a true red zone target. Enter Williams, who may not wow you with his route-running, but is fully capable of doing this consistently…

Williams could end up being Philip Rivers' new Gates in 2018.

Chris Godwin, WR Buccaneers, Age: 22

You can make the argument that Godwin's breakout has already begun. The Buccaneers gave the 2017 third-round pick more snaps in Weeks 16 and 17 last season and he responded with 98- and 111-yard performances against two good defenses in Carolina and New Orleans. For the big downfield threat to truly make noise in 2018, he'll need to surpass DeSean Jackson on the depth chart. That looks like it's already starting to happen.

Godwin is a big body who glides effortlessly down the field and can turn 50/50 balls into 70/30 balls. That was all evident on his last rep of the 2017 season, a game-winning touchdown against the Saints.
