F1 driver walks away from scary crash
Sauber F1 Team driver Marcus Ericsson walked away unharmed from a violent crash at the start of a practice session at Monza on Friday in Italy.
Ericsson approached Turn 1 at full speed and attempted to brake for the upcoming right turn, but a DRS failure caused his car to whip around to the left and into the wall just a few feet from the track. The car slid through the grass and did a number of barrel rolls, but Ericsson confirmed on the radio that he was safe.
In a video message to fans, Ericsson praised the safety of his car and said he was looking forward to practice and qualifying on Saturday.
The photos of Ericsson's accident are stunning.
