Aaron Rodgers says he wasn't on painkillers Sunday
Aaron Rodgers initially appeared to suffer a significant knee injury during the first half of Sunday's game against the Bears. The Packers quarterback was carted to the locker room only to return in the second half and lead Green Bay to an epic comeback win.
After the win, Rodgers joined NBC's Michele Tafoya for the postgame interview, and something seemed a bit off.
NFL fans noticed that Rodgers appeared somewhat spacey in his answers, developed an odd southern accent and could hardly contain his laughter. Many speculated that Rodgers was on pain medication.
On Wednesday, though, Rodgers made it clear that painkillers had nothing to do with the comeback or the postgame interview. He told reporters that he doesn't like pain medication and didn't take any on Sunday, via ESPN's Rob Demovsky:
Aaron Rodgers called his injury a "sprained knee." He said he didn't take any pain medications on Sunday night because he doesn't like them. "There was a lot of adrenaline," he said, "and (it's) pretty sore the last three days." He said he feels "a little better every day." He said he did not practice at all today and stayed at the stadium for treatment.
Rodgers called into ESPN's Dan Le Batard Show on Tuesday, and that southern drawl was gone.
