Lonzo Ball doesn't think he changed his shot
Lonzo Ball struggled mightily with his shot in his rookie season. It took an improved second half to bounce back from a historically poor shooting slump, and still, he shot just 30.5 percent from 3-point range.
A change was needed, and for the past few weeks, it looked like it happened.
There was buzz about a refined shot coming from a grainy, hard-to-see video. But then, the Lakers tweeted an extended look at the shot, and it indeed looked new. Though Ball still started his unconventional form from the opposite side of his head, it was a shorter shot - definitely appeared cleaned up. Magic Johnson even called the new shot beautiful.
Lonzo just had no idea what we all were talking about.
Speaking at Lakers media day on Monday, Lonzo said that his shot wasn't all that different. Instead, he credited his added muscle for making his shot appear different, which didn't make too much sense.
He repeated the same sentiment during his press conference portion of media day.
It certainly wasn't a drastic change, but his shot had made improvements. It's literally on video.
That much is clear from what his shot looked like when he entered the league.
