LaVar told Lonzo that LaMelo is better than he was
LaVar Ball's dream is that all three of his sons would play for the Lakers at the same time. Right now, he's a third of the way there with Lonzo Ball. LiAngelo Ball's NBA prospects remain minuscule at best.
But from how LaVar sees it, LaMelo Ball is on track to being better than the Lakers point guard.
In the latest episode of Ball in the Family, LaVar caught up with Lonzo after his knee surgery in a FaceTime conversation. LaMelo's Los Angeles Ballers JBA team was coming off a 170-123 win (lol that scoreline) against Atlanta, and LaMelo himself put up 48 points, 24 rebounds and 14 assists (again, lol). Lonzo had handpicked that Atlanta team, and the glaring deficiencies of the JBA league didn't affect LaVar's opinion of his youngest son.
He told Lonzo in that conversation that LaMelo had him beat at 16 years old.
LaVar and Lonzo had the following exchange:
LaVar: "Between me and you, he's colder than you at 16."
Lonzo: "I doubt it."
LaVar: "I think he would tear you up, son."
Lonzo was a high school standout at Chino Hills while LaMelo has been forced to develop differently since being pulled from high school as a would-be junior. He has been spending the past couple weeks playing in the JBA international tour and showing improvement thus far.
