Former NFL ref picks the best flopping QBs
The NFL's emphasis on protecting quarterbacks around the league in 2018 has led to a flurry of roughing the passer calls through the first four weeks of the season, and former referee Terry McAulay said this week that catching fouls against franchise QBs is the number one priority among officials.
Some quarterbacks are taking advantage of the situation by exaggerating contact or pressuring officials to throw the flag, something McAulay says that every QB in the league is guilty of. During an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, McAulay identified Chargers QB Philip Rivers and current reality star Jay Cutler as the best actors in recent years.
Dan Patrick: "The best acting quarterback that you ever dealt with? Who could really put on a performance there that you weren't quite sure."
Terry McAulay: "I want to say Jay Cutler might have been in that mode. Phil Rivers might fall into that category. But really, all of them do it. Let's put it this way, I've seen everyone do it at least once.
