Yasiel Puig got caught stealing second in the sixth inning of the Dodgers' 3-0 win over the Braves in Game 2 of the NLDS on Friday. Atlanta catcher Kurt Suzuki's throw beat Puig to the base by several steps, and by the time Puig got there, there was nothing to do but concede defeat and give Braves shortstop - and former Dodgers teammate - Charle Culberson a big ol' hug and a peck on the neck:

</div> In the NL Wild Card game on Tuesday, Cubs infielder Javy Baez, faced with the inevitability of being tagged out by Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado, <a rel="noopener" target="_blank" href="https://ftw.usatoday.com/2018/10/chicago-cubs-colorado-rockies-wild-card-arenado-baez-hug-memes">chose to engage Arenado in a tender embrace</a>. Everyone needs a hug sometimes, and rarely more so than upon the instance of being erased on the basepaths in a huge game. That hug came with some controversy, as many believed Arenado would have been able to turn a double play had he not been busy snuggling with Baez. It didn't ultimately matter - the Rockies escaped the inning and went on to win the game - but the tumult sullied any warm intentions inherent in the hug. Puig's hug is pure. This man <a rel="noopener" target="_blank" href="https://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/10/nlcs-yasiel-puig-los-angeles-dodgers-fun-yes-batflips-tongue-wags-awesome-mlb">has love to give</a>, apparently. There are some out there, undoubtedly, who'd prefer players maintain the illusion, at least for the length of the game, that they unilaterally dislike anyone who happens to be wearing the other team's jersey. But that's silly. We all know it doesn't work like that, and it shouldn't work like that, because baseball's just a dumb, fun thing and Puig is here to enjoy it.
