Brandon Ingram on Lakers fight: I 'stepped up for my teammates'

Lakers forward Brandon Ingram was hit with a four-game suspension for his role in Saturday's fight between Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo.

Ingram had shoved James Harden, got in the face of an official and then was separated from the scrum. But when the incident escalated between Paul and Rondo, Ingram rejoined the altercation and threw a punch at the Rockets point guard.

While Ingram was hit with the harshest suspension of the group, he was relieved with its leniency. He also said that he would protect his teammates "10 times out of 10."

He did add that he apologized to his teammates about losing control of his emotions.

Ingram will forfeit $158,817 in missed salary during his suspension and is scheduled to return on Oct. 29 against Minnesota.
