Is LeBron the worst clutch free-throw shooter
Playing shorthanded after two players were suspended for their roles in a fight with the Rockets over the weekend, the Los Angeles Lakers dropped to 0-3 following a gut-wrenching loss to the Spurs in overtime at the Staples Center.
LeBron's Lakers made a furious comeback late in regulation, erasing an eight-point deficit with 1:10 to play in the fourth quarter. A Kyle Kuzma three, assisted by James, cut the Spurs' lead to three with 35 seconds remaining, and LeBron hit a massive three to tie the game with seconds remaining.
James scored five points in overtime and had three assists in the period, but the game will be remembered for his two misses at the free-throw line with 12.8 seconds remaining. James went to the line with the Lakers clinging to a 142-141 lead, but went 0-for-2 from the line in the clutch.
As ESPN Stats and Info noted, this isn't the first time LeBron has misfired at the line in close games. The 73 percent career FT shooter is making less than half of his attempts late in tight games since the start of the 2017-18 season.
After LeBron's misses, some Lakers fans trolled their new superstar by claiming that Kobe Bryant never would have missed.
