JuJu Smith-Schuster hoped Mega Millions would end Le'Veon Bell's holdout
Steelers star running back Le'Veon Bell was initially supposed to report to the team during the bye week. That didn't happen, and Bell has remained a no-show at the Steelers facility into the week.
With no end to the holdout in sight, JuJu Smith-Schuster was hoping to take matters into his own hands this week.
The Steelers wide receiver told reporters that he purchased 100-plus Mega Millions lottery tickets in hopes of cashing in on the $1.6 billion jackpot and paying Bell to come back. It was a valiant effort. Unfortunately, Smith-Schuster did not win - someone in South Carolina did.
He tried his best, so that counts for something.
Plus, I'm not sure if privately funding a teammate's contract would fly under the NFL's CBA, but it was certainly worth a shot.
