How in the world did Kawhi Leonard pull off this diving no-look steal?
Kawhi Leonard is making up for his lost 2017-18 season in a big way with the Raptors, and all the talk over the summer that Leonard may not have any real interest in competing for Toronto was clearly misguided. The former Finals MVP is putting up career-best scoring and rebounding numbers through four games, and he dropped 35 in a win over the Timberwolves on Wednesday night.
As is often the case with Leonard, however, his best play of the night game on the defensive end. Minnesota's Gorgui Dieng attempted a risky pass to a cutting Jimmy Butler that was stolen by a diving Leonard - despite the fact that Leonard has his back turned to Dieng and couldn't see the pass.
As you can see from the second camera angle, Kyle Lowry was in position to make the steal even if Leonard didn't snag the ball, but he's already secured the steal of the season.
The Raptors are now 5-0 and a half-game ahead of undefeated Milwaukee for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
