MLB All-Star Game: Freddie Freeman was mic'd up during at-bat against Justin Verlander
The best early moment in the MLB All-Star Game was something that needs to become a regular thing during TV broadcasts.
I'm talking about how Fox Sports had Atlanta's Freddie Freeman mic'd up during his first-inning at-bat against Houston's Justin Verlander.
It was great banter and entertainment.
Freeman stepped to the plate and immediately told New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez that he was mic'd up.
We then got to listen as Freeman asked broadcasters Joe Buck and John Smoltz about the signs and if a close pitch really was a strike (they correctly said it was). Then came the fun exchange between Freeman and Verlander, that had Verlander yelling at him to swing the bat.
It was fun.
But seriously, we need more of this in our baseball broadcasts.
