Bills QB Jake Fromm apologizes for 'elite white people' text message that went viral
Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Jake Fromm, the former Georgia Bulldogs star who was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL draft, apologized for using racist language in a text message conversation that went viral on social media on Thursday.
Screenshots of a conversation between Fromm and an unknown person were posted to Twitter. Fromm was asked if his views have changed on guns, and he went on to write that gun suppressors should be "very expensive so only elite white people can get them."
"But no guns are good," he wrote. "They need to let me get suppressors. Just make them very expensive so only elite white people can get them haha"
After the screenshots started to go viral on social media, Fromm acknowledged that he was the person who had sent the messages, and he apologized for his word choice.
Fromm wrote that he stands "against racism 100%," and that he has addressed the issue with his teammates and coaches.
