Opinion: Kevin James stars as New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton in absurd first 'Home Team' trailer

I don’t want to repeat myself too much from eight months ago, when the world learned that a Sean Payton biopic of sorts would be coming to screens in the near future, with "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" star Kevin James playing the New Orleans Saints head coach back in 2012 and how he coached his son’s sixth-grade team while suspended after Bountygate.

But OK, here! From my post about "Home Team" in April:  “Given James’ and [Adam] Sandler’s involvement and the premise of a decorated NFL coach spending a season with his son’s sixth-grade team … are we talking about a laugh-out-loud straight comedy here? The coach who has lost his way but finds that the child-like love of the game is what makes him whole again?”

The answer, per the trailer that dropped on Tuesday, appears to be ... YES, which could be glossing over Payton’s role in the pay-for-injury scandal that was uncovered.

The best part of it? “Mr. GOOD-all is on the phone?”

And then it kind of looks like "Little Giants."
